August 7, 2006--Freelance writer Beverly Keel tells The Tennessean that Crystal is proud to be in Will Ferrell's new movie. In "Talladega Nights: The Ballad Of Ricky Bobby," Ferrell wears a vintage Crystal Gayle concert t-shirt. He also wore it to the Hollywood premiere of the film. Last year, Crystal's office was told the filmmakers wanted to use the shirt in the movie, but she didn't give it any thought.
"One of my son's friends had seen the premiere of it, and he called and said Will was wearing it," says Crystal, who has never met Will. "Wow! That was a nice surprise. Having Will wear my shirt, I have come up in my children's eyes. They are excited; they think Mom is something now."
Crystal will make her own Hollywood appearance in 2007, when she'll be inducted into the Hollywood Walk of Fame. "I was speechless when I first heard it," she tells Keel. "When I first went to California, I stayed in Hollywood. My first trip out of the hotel, I got to go and see [the Walk of Fame]." She doesn't know when the ceremony will take place or where her star will be. "I know my sister has a star there," she says, referring to Loretta Lynn. "Hopefully, we'll be pretty close together."
Crystal stayed pretty close to home to record her latest project, a DVD titled "Crystal Gayle Live in Concert," which was taped at Dickson's Renaissance Theater and hits streets this month. "It's a very beautiful theater; it's very intimate. This is a great way to put your music out there to people who can't see a show."
